To be honest, this series is ridiculously personal for me. Scranton is roughly halfway between New York and Philadelphia, and I’ve taken a truly unbelievable amount of shit for the last 21 years for being a Phillies fan. Growing up, the cool kids pulled for the Yankees, and the rest suffered as Phils fans.
I distinctly remember being in 4th grade when the Yankees won the World Series in 1996. One of my classmates (who is/was a complete asshole) started hooting in my face, screaming about the Yankees. He did the same in 1998, 1999, and 2000. It wasn’t just baseball, but that’s what I remember most. I saw him again 3 or 4 years back at a Labor day softball tournament. He began trying to embarrass me in front of my friends (again bringing up the 26 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!1!!1!!!), apparently unaware that I had spent the previous 4 years learning how to kickbox. That was an awesome day.
Anyway, that was unrelated. The point is, if I’m being an asshole, I apologize. I love you guys, and there isn’t a single one of you I wouldn’t hang with. If I’m at all douchey, just cut me some slack or unfollow for a week or two. No hard feelings. Good luck. : )
